  • Airfare, travel insurance, souvenirs, alcoholic beverages, and anything not detailed in the itinerary.

  • The weather in July in Scandinavia will generally be mild and relatively cool, but it can vary depending on location.

    • Tromsø (Norway) & Lyngenfjord (Norway): Expect temperatures ranging from 10°C to 18°C (50°F to 64°F). It can be a bit cooler in the evenings and mornings, and there’s a chance of rain, so pack accordingly with layers and waterproof gear.

    • Mountain Cabins (Norway): In the mountains, it could be colder, especially at higher elevations, with temperatures ranging from 5°C to 15°C (41°F to 59°F). The weather may also change quickly, so prepare for potential rain, wind, or even a light snowfall at higher altitudes.

    • Alta & the Finnmark Plateau (Norway): This region tends to be a bit warmer with daytime temperatures around 12°C to 18°C (54°F to 64°F). Nights can be cool, often around 5°C to 10°C (41°F to 50°F).

In general, be ready for changeable weather, especially in the mountains, and pack layers to stay warm and dry.

  • You’ll need to make sure you are in Tromso via the Tromso-Langnes airport by 5PM on your arrival date.

Please depart from the Alta airport in Norway any time on your departure date.

  • We classify this trip a level 5 out of 5. This means that prior hiking experience is required. Expect long hikes, some elevation gain and variable terrain and weather.

We definitely recommend preparing physically for this trip and will provide a pre-trip preparation guide with a training plan starting 3 months out from your trip.

Check the detailed itinerary with daily mileage, approximate walking time and elevation changes.

  • Sleeping accommodations are a combination of stays in hotels, dome tents and huts.

The huts have beds available, blankets, outhouse, water from the stream, wood, stove, all cooking gear and cups and plates.

The iglo dome tents have heating/air conditioning (driven by green waterpower energy) and very comfortable beds.

Check the itinerary for more details on each location.

  • Everyone will carry their own backpacks with personal clothing, toiletry bag, water and food for 3 days.

All the rest of the items that we will need will be available in the unmanned cabins.

This means a medium to big size backpack of approximately 80 liters Liters.

You can view the packing list here.

  • Yes! Most dietary requests can be arranged in advance.

  • On the days we are trekking expect no access to wifi, cell-service or electricity.

Electricity: The country uses Type C and Type F plugs, with two round pins. The standard voltage is 230V with a frequency of 50Hz.

If your devices have a different plug type or are not compatible with 230V, you will also need a voltage converter. However, many modern electronics like phone chargers and laptops can handle a wide range of voltages (e.g., 100-240V), so check the label on your devices to see if they are compatible with the local voltage. If so, you just need the adapter.

If you're unsure, it’s always safe to carry a universal plug adapter and check your device’s voltage compatibility beforehand!

  • Throughout this trekking adventure there will be plenty of opportunities to shower.

There are toilets/outhouses at all overnight accommodations, however there are no showers at the huts.

As you’re trekking on trail there will not be easy access to toilets, so your guides will brief you on “leave no trace behind” principles for elimination on trails and outdoors.

  • You can find a packing list here. We will also go through gear questions in more detail in our two pre-trip calls.

  • It is recommended that you do practice hikes, walks, or strength and cardio conditioning to prepare for this trip. Three months before the start of your trip you will receive a pre-trip preparation series that includes a training plan.
