  • Today we start our big trekking adventure, which consists of 3 legs of hiking and a stay in 2 different mountain cabins (total of 3 nights).

The day will start with a short 10 min drive into the valley and a view of the last farm before the wilderness begins.

From here we start hiking into the wild!

This first hike is a medium difficulty hike with no steep terrain - a total of 11 kms, 600 meters elevation gain, and approximately 4 hours walking time.

We’ll be enjoying the arctic mountain landscape and a picnic lunch.

After our 4-5hr hike we’ll arrive at a Gappo hut, a cabin owned by the national hiking association DNT.

This is part of the proud heritage of Norway with over 500 of such cabins, mostly unserviced but available for use for everybody. The system is based on trust and functions very well.

The cabins have beds available, blankets, outhouse, water from the stream, wood, stove, all cooking gear and cups and plates. A great Norwegian outdoors experience!

After our first day trekking we’ll cosy up with wood - fire or outside campfire depending on the weather.

Food: Since we will be carrying food for 3 full days we will have to rely on some freeze dried meals, oats, dried fruit and nuts and of course we will try to add what we find in nature - fresh berries, mushrooms etc.

    Accommodations: Gappo Hut.

    Meals: B | L | D

Details on Packing: Everyone will carry their own backpacks with personal clothing, toiletry bag, water bottle and food for 3 days.

All the rest of the items that we will need will be available in the unmanned cabins.

This means a medium to big size backpack of apprpximately 50-60 Liters will do (depending on your personal packing habits. Excess luggage can be left behind on this day in the hotel  and will be available on day 6.)

  • Get ready for another beautiful day of hiking with amazing arctic mountain ranges around us.

Today’s hike will be 12 kms and only 100m elevation gain/loss, approximately 4-5 hrs.

Our destination today is the Golda hut where we will stay 2 nights. This longer stay will afford us the time to enjoy nature, each other and relax.

With no wifi or cell-phone reception we’ll really have the opportunity to slow down and get back to basics preparing our own food and drink, getting water from the river, and cooking on the wood stove.

  • Today is a great highlight of our adventure!

We will have the incredible opportunity to swim from Norway through Sweden and Finland back to Norway (about 5 minutes).

Enjoy the rest of the day in and around the hut and revel in the 24/7 daylight at this time of year.
