🌾 Mundanely Magical Living: Being In The Experience

Carisa at the helm.

Something beautiful happens and almost instinctively, our hands reach for our phones.

Our baby takes her first steps.

Get the camera.

Our child walks across the stage.

Get the camera.

The sunset is incredible.

Get the camera.

And listen, we love photos. Obviously. We are a travel company.

There’s totally something to be said about looking back through photos, the memories they hold, the tiny details they allow us to revisit years later, to see someone or something we miss and can’t touch anymore.

This isn't an argument for putting our phones away forever.

It's simply something we've been wondering: How often does trying to capture a moment take us out of the very moment we're trying to remember?

Because there is a tiny transition that happens when we reach for the camera.

We go from experiencing to documenting.

From being inside the moment to looking at it through a screen.

And sometimes that's worth it.

And maybe sometimes it isn't.

So this week, when something beautiful happens and you feel that familiar instinct: I need to capture this.

Try something different: Leave the phone where it is and look a little longer, listen a little deeper, pause to feel what’s happening in your body, notice the faces around you and just see how the moment continues to unfold.

Sometimes the richest memories aren't always the ones we can pull up in our camera roll. Some live somewhere deeper.

And some moments are simply too alive to fit inside a photograph.
