What Makes This Adventure Special:

This trip is for the person who seeks an opportunity to reconnect with the magic within by exploring the magical tranquility of nature and the expansiveness of the beautiful desert sky.

You’ll be led by Root Tour Leaders, Ally and Breanne, who will help you on this journey of seeing the magic within all things - great and small.

When we go out to explore the world at large it helps us to put into perspective the wisdom within and can even guide us to experience an expanded sense of gratitude in returning home.

So whether you’re in need of some guidance for self-reflection or just wanting to get out and experience the incredible inspiration and magic that the desert offers, this trip will be a sanctuary for you to rest your mind and just be.

Between the beautiful hotel and glamping accommodations, you are sure to have a comfortable and restful experience while exploring the beauty of Sedona and the Grand Canyon with daily exploration and hikes.

Sedona is known for its powerful energy. We will harness this energy to explore healing, transformation, awakening, and mindful moments. We’ll then hike into Grand Canyon National Park exploring the vast and immense power of mother nature.

Begin each day with intentional movement and/or mindfulness and end each evening with stunning views of colorful sunsets.  With lots of hiking and plenty of time to rest and reflect, expect to come back from this trip with a sense of reconnection to yourself and nature.

Meet Your Tour Leaders

Alexandra Barnett

Ally loves connecting with people and adventuring outdoors. She is passionate about learning and growing, and she has centered her career and life around these passions. Ally is a licensed clinical social worker with a private therapy practice, as well as a trusted adventure travel guide.  She believes that the outdoors provides the perfect place for building intimacy (“into-me-I-see”) and relationships.

Breanne Kiefner

Breanne, founder of Root Adventure, grew up food insecure in an unstable home with undiagnosed dyslexia. She believes that this laid the foundation for her approach to travel, collaboration, and all things learning. Through travel, curiosity, and vulnerability Breanne found healing from communities around the world and her hope is for Root Adventures to make this healing power of travel accessible to others.

WHY travel with Root?
HEar directly from our travelers:

Taylor

“This trip was absolutely transformative for me. The contracted kayak guides were absolutely incredibly and went above and beyond to treat us to gourmet meals, amazing campsites, and great conversation. Further, the trip leaders from Root surpassed the huge expectation I already had. Not only did they facilitate exceptional stretching, guided meditations, and a new appreciation for mindfulness, but they allowed my group to feel as though we'd known each other for YEARS instead of just a few days. I would recommend a trip through Root Adventures to everyone and feel so grateful to have discovered this program.”

Jehovana

“The experience was so fulfilling in all different areas. It allowed me to come out of my comfort zone and try new things. The personalities were great and so fun to be around with. Not to mention that Andrea, Jason, and Aaron wrapped up the experience flawlessly.”

  • You’ll need to arrive in Phoenix, AZ (PHX) by 12pm on May 16th. Please departure from PHX any time after 4pm on May 20th.

  • We classify this trip a difficulty level of 3 out of 5. No prior hiking experience is required, however multi-hour sustained physical exertion will be required for day hikes. There is a potential for elevation gain and up to 6 hours of movement per day. You need to have the ability to carry a day pack with a hydration bladder. Hikes may be optional group and guides depending!

On the third day you’ll be hiking down into the Grand Canyon and what goes down must come up! This is a moderately difficult/ strenuous hike that does require significant elevation gain. Breaks will be taken to ensure safety and accommodate various hiking levels.

  • Sleeping accommodations are 1 night hotel stay and 2 nights glamping as detailed in the itinerary.

Your first night will be at the luxurious The Wilde Resort and Spa in Sedona.

At the Grand Canyon you’ll be enjoying upscale, safari-inspired accommodations featuring real beds, plush linens, wood-burning stoves, a full restaurant and more!

  • All you will need to carry is a daypack for your day hiking adventures. We recommend a daypack that has a chest and waist strap and ability to house a hydration bladder. In your daypack you’ll be carrying the essentials for hiking during the day such as extra layers, water, sunscreen, hat, etc.

  • Yes! Most dietary requests can be arranged in advance.

  • There is access to some electricity at your glamping accommodations and you will be able to charge your devices using bedside battery packs provided.

  • It is recommended that you do practice hikes, walks, or strength and cardio conditioning to prepare for this trip. As mentioned previously, you’ll be hiking down into the Grand Canyon and what goes down must come up! This is a moderately difficult/ strenuous hike that does require significant elevation gain. Breaks will be taken to ensure safety and accommodate various hiking levels.
