  • You’ll want to arrive in Palm Springs by 11:00 AM, where we’ll have lunch. After a delicious lunch and the opportunity to get to know your group and guides, we’ll drive to our campsite in Joshua Tree National Park (1 hour).

    We’ll work together to set up camp before going on our first hike of the trip!

  • Today calls for an early start as we pack breakfast to-go to catch the sunrise. We’ll continue chasing that morning light with a moderate hike, watching the desert landscape unfold before us.

    An early start comes with a higher chance of seeing wildlife as well! The rest of the day will consist of shorter hikes and stops along with a picnic lunch.

  • A trip to Joshua Tree isn’t complete without the chance to climb its iconic rock walls!

    Under the guidance of experienced instructors, you’ll learn essential skills and gain the confidence to ascend the routes that make Joshua Tree a renowned climbing destination.

  • Enjoy a leisurely breakfast this morning before packing up camp! Hiking highlights may include a hidden desert oasis, panoramic desert views, and abandoned mines.

    This evening, you’ll enjoy a comfortable hotel stay at Field Station Joshua Tree in Yucca Valley.

  • Our final day starts with breakfast in town before a special experience at the Integratron. Known for its architecture, acoustics, and metaphysical properties, the Integratron is the perfect location for a rejuvenating private sound bath.

    Your desert journey comes to an end here as we drive an hour back to Palm Springs for your departing flights.

FAQs

  • We provide a full service experience. Included in your trip cost:

    +Transportation: All transportation is included from arrival at the Palm Springs airport to return at Palm Springs airport..

    +Food: All food from lunch on day one to breakfast on day 5 are included as outlined in the itinerary.

    +Accommodation: Accommodation for the first 3 nights will be in shared, modern, lightweight 2-person weather-proof tents. Your last night will be in a hotel stay at Field Station Joshua Tree in Yucca Valley.

    +Equipment: Trip participants will be responsible for providing their own hiking clothing, rain gear, day packs, and sturdy hiking footwear. A packing list will be provided. We will provide group camping gear along with sleeping bags, sleeping pads and tents. The guides will provide the group safety gear such as tarps and emergency communication devices as well as group cooking gear and food.

    +Safety: As with all our trips, safety is our number one priority. We expect the unexpected and will have plans for anything that could happen while on our adventures. We will have radios and other types of emergency communication devices, evacuation plans, and all of our guides have current Advanced Wilderness First Aid Certificates.

  • Airfare, travel insurance, souvenirs, alcoholic beverages, and anything not detailed in the itinerary.

  • October and November are considered two of the best months to visit Joshua Tree National Park as you’ll miss the sweltering heat of the summer and settle into more comfortable temperatures.

    During your trip expect temperatures ranging from the mid-80s in the day and the 50s at night.

  • You’ll need to arrive at the Palm Springs Airport, before 11:00 AM on October 20th.

    Departure from Palm Springs Airport any time after 2:00 pm on October 24th.

  • We classify this trip a difficulty level of 3 out of 5.

    Hiking days will usually include about 6 total hours on the trail, covering anywhere from 5-8 miles on the day with moderate elevation gain.

    This trip includes three days of hiking back-to-back so it’s best for travelers who are comfortable being active for most of the day, multiple days in a row. Some hiking experience is recommended. We will accommodate the group depending on the groups abilities.

  • Sleeping accommodations are a combination of hotel stays and camping as detailed in the itinerary.

    Accommodation for the first 3 nights will be in shared, modern, lightweight 2-person weather-proof tents. Your last night will be in a hotel stay at Field Station Joshua Tree in Yucca Valley, where you can take a hot shower and get a good night's sleep before your travels home!

  • Since you’ll be setting up camp and going on day hikes out and back from your camping setup, all you’ll need to carry with you is a day pack that can house a hydration bladder and essentials like sunscreen, extra layers and snacks.

  • Yes! Most dietary requests can be arranged in advance.

  • On the days you’ll be camping there is no access to electricity and wifi.

  • On the camping portion of the trip there are pit toilets but no showers. Your guides will show you how to practice “leave no trace” practices for elimination on trails and outdoors.

  • You can find a packing list here. We will also go through gear questions in more detail in our two pre-trip calls.

  • It is recommended that you do practice hikes, walks, or strength and cardio conditioning to prepare for this trip. 3 months out you’ll receive our pre-trip preparation guide that comes with a training plan.
