Root Home Retreat:
Sustainability Through Regenerative living
Date: Wednesday, August 6, 2025
Meeting Time: 12 - 3pm EDT, 9 am - 12 pm PDT
Location: Zoom
You don’t need a plane ticket or a packed bag to go on a journey. What if the most transformative trip you could take was the one that brought you closer to yourself, your home, and the world right outside your door?
Sustainability Through Regenerative Living is a virtual retreat designed to nourish both personal well-being and planetary health — starting right where you are. Grounded in regenerative practices, this retreat offers a personalized approach inviting you to explore what sustainability means in your unique context. Through nature connection, mindful movement, and reflective practices, you will experience firsthand how caring for yourself can ripple outward into caring for the world. Together, we’ll slow down, deepen our presence, and cultivate practices that restore rather than deplete — practices that can be integrated into daily life long after the retreat ends.

Roadmap to the adventure
Welcome Circle (Zoom)
We open in community with intention-setting and gentle grounding practices. After brief introductions, we’ll guide the group into presence through breathwork and simple embodiment techniques. This circle creates a safe container for the day’s exploration and introduces Root’s approach to regenerative travel — starting at home.
Solo Nature Practice (Guided Audio)
Step outside, open a window, or find a simple connection to nature wherever they are. Through a guided “Backyard Pilgrimage.”
Movement & Meditation Practice (Zoom)
Reconvene for a gentle, integrative movement session combining breathwork, intuitive movement, and stillness. The practice supports you in noticing how nature’s regenerative rhythms exist within your own body.
Solo Reflection + Journaling + Breakout Sharing (Zoom)
We return to our chosen nature spot or a cozy indoor nook for reflection and journaling, guided by optional prompts centered on personal sustainability and regenerative living.
Closing Integration Circle (Zoom)
Our final circle brings the community back together to share insights, set intentions, and explore how each of us can carry regenerative practices into our daily rhythms — nourishing both personal and planetary ecosystems long after the retreat concludes.
Preparing for Your Home Retreat
You don’t need much to have a meaningful retreat experience. A little intention goes a long way. Below are some suggestions to help you prepare your space, gather simple items, and get the most from your day.
Create Your Retreat Space
Choose a quiet space where you can participate without interruption — indoors or outdoors.
Identify a nearby natural space you can easily access for your solo nature practices — this might be:
A backyard, garden, balcony, or patio
A nearby park, green space, or even an open window
A single plant or natural object if you have limited access to outdoor space
Gather comfort items: a cozy blanket, comfortable chair or cushion, warm drink, or any items that help you feel grounded.
What to Have On Hand
Journal & Pen — for reflection prompts and note-taking
Headphones / Earbuds — especially helpful if participating in the outdoor guided audio or Zoom practice
Mobile Device — if you wish to join the nature practice live via Zoom while outside
Water Bottle / Snacks — for nourishment during breaks
Yoga Mat or Blanket — for movement and meditation portions
Pillows (2-4) — for movement and meditation
Weather-Appropriate Clothing — for outdoor time (hat, sunscreen, etc.)
Yoga Blocks (Optional) — for movement
Simple Natural Object (Optional) — such as a stone, leaf, or small plant for sensory or object-based practices indoors
Prepare Your Schedule
Block off the full retreat time to honor this as sacred space for yourself.
Let family or housemates know you’ll be unavailable during retreat hours.
Silence notifications and put devices in “Do Not Disturb” mode if possible.
Mindset for Arrival
Come with an open heart and curious mind.
You do not need prior experience with meditation, movement, or nature practices — all levels are welcome.
Remember: There’s no “right” way to do this. The retreat meets you exactly where you are.
